Sitting here in Limbo..

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll
Sitting here in limbo got some time to search my soul

I have earlier quoted this lyric and I find it very descriptive for this phase of life. And it does not matter whether this is in your personal life or an organization’s life. It is the same, but of course the circumstances are different.

Even though the limbo phase is a time of frustration, confusion and dismay, it should also be a time of creativity, just because things are a bit chaotic. In times like that wild ideas come natural. It does not matter anyway. It should be like that more often.

Having said this, when it comes to organizational limbos, too many are just waiting for the die to roll. Not done with the past, not ready for the new. Pretty agonizing. “These things are sent to try us and we shall probably emerge as nobler souls from the experience”. You might think something like that if you’re able to look at the situation from a perspective. Most don’t.

When I find myself in times of trouble mother Mary comes to me; speaking words of wisdom: let it be. (Lennon/McCartney)

It is this all important, simple, but not necessarily easy, thing of letting go. I was about to say that this comes to us in so many different situations in life. But thinking of it, it doesn’t. It is actually only in times of transitions. When we have to move on. That’s when we have to let it be, to let go. Let go of the past. All these situations of forgiving, forgetting or just merely turning our back to situations where our selfishness and proudness keep us in a state of resentfulness fighting the situation like Don Quixote’s tilting at wind mills. Instead of letting go and move on in peace with ourself. It can take some time, yes, but you are the only person who can let go of something, and it is crucial for moving on. As simple as that.

So, when you let go, you enter the limbo phase, which admittedly can be scary, but it is a far better place to be than never letting go of anything and be stuck (in a rut) (Sorry, I had to put that in, it is a very dominant quote from my book “Unlock Your Future“). Stuck in a rut, it is the reality for way too many people.
